Carol Davis
8300 De Longpre Ave. #103 West Hollywood, California 90069 January 2004 Dear Friends & Family, As many of you know, I participated in the Honolulu Marathon in 2001. I completed the 26.2 miles (6 hours and 58 minutes of walking and running.), and raised $4,000 for Leukemia and Lymphoma research. Well, my legs have finally recovered and I’ve started training for another race. I plan to run a half marathon in February of 2004. Once again, I am raising money for the Leukemia and Lympho Lymphoma Society (www.leukemia.org) (Mission below) and working out with Team in Training (www.teamintraining.org). My goals are to run the 13.1 miles in 2 hours or less and raise a minimum of $5,000 for cancer research. Your contribution would be greatly appreciated. I have a few personal and precious reasons for becoming involved in the Team in Training. Several close friends and loved ones have been touched by the disease. My friends Amy and Colin have recovered thanks to sophisticated treatments and procedures. My cousin Monica and aunt Sonoko (Monica’s mother) are still battling lymphoma, and in July of 2002 my family lost our Grandma Sylvia to the disease. For me, supporting the efforts to raise funds for research feels like supporting my loved ones in their struggle. Contributions like yours make a real difference in the lives of brave cancer warriors worldwide. I’ve attached a donation form if you would like to participate in this exciting quest for a cure. Please call me if you would like to discuss the program or find out other ways of getting involved. My home phone number is 323.251.6992, and my e-mail address is sivadlorac@yahoo.com. Thank you for your generosity, faith and good will. Sincerely, Carol Davis The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Mission: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is a national voluntary health agency dedicated to curing leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improving the quality of life of patients and their families. Leukemia and Lymphoma Society sponsored research has been the catalyst for effective treatments of Hodgkin's disease, lymphomas and other common kinds of cancers, including breast and lung cancer. Now, on the threshold of a new era, the hope is that with accelerated funding for research, all leukemias and related cancers will be curable early in the next century. The research is working! Twenty-five years ago, only 5% of children diagnosed with leukemia survived. Today, 73% of children with leukemia and 76% of those with Hodgkin's disease will live thanks to the research funded by people involved in projects like Team in Training. |
